Salgard is an acid-based feed and water hygiene product designed to help control unwanted bacterial and mould growth in feed and drinking water while supporting a healthy digestive environment.
Salgard works before potentially harmful microorganisms enter the animal by helping improve the hygiene of feed and water. Its blend of organic acids is designed to help manage microbial contamination and support the development of a healthy and diverse gut microbiome.
Benefits
Improves feed hygiene
Helps control unwanted bacterial growth in feed and water
Helps control mould growth in feed
Helps reduce microbial contamination of raw materials and finished feed
Helps improve drinking water hygiene
Supports a healthy gut microbiome
Supports digestive health
Helps create an environment favourable to beneficial gut bacteria
Supports overall animal health and performance
Particularly useful where feed or water contamination is a concern
Can be used continuously as part of a feed and water hygiene program
Salgard contains a synergistic blend of formic and propionic acids. Formic acid helps control common Gram-negative microorganisms such as Salmonella and E. coli, while propionic acid helps inhibit mould growth.
Suitable for
Salgard Liquid is suitable for:
Chickens

Game birds
Pigeons, including racing and show pigeons
Other avian species
Swine
It can be used in birds of all ages throughout the year.
How to use

This is equivalent to:
1–2 L per 1,000 L of water
For best results, Anpario recommends continuous use.
Feed and feed ingredients
Add at:
1–8 ml per kg of feed
This is equivalent to:
1–8 L per tonne of feed
For routine feed hygiene, Anpario suggests using the middle of the range, with higher inclusion rates where there are concerns regarding feed material quality. Salgard can be incorporated into feed approximately 24 hours before feeding.
Fogging and spraying
Dilute 1 part Salgard to 4 parts clean water.
Use only according to the manufacturer's directions and appropriate safety precautions.
Important information
Salgard contains volatile fatty acids and should not be used together with other strong acids or alkalis.
Keep tightly sealed between uses and store in a cool, dry area away from heat and damp conditions.
